Last weekend, the hubs, the kid and I headed to the Buy Michigan Now Festival. I was supposed to do MuckFest Detroit that day, but it was so hot and I wasn’t feeling my best. So, we headed a few miles south to Northville. The Buy Michigan Now Festival has been in downtown Northville for eight years and it’s put on to celebrate Buy Michigan Week. It’s always a fun time and we go every year. There are tons of street vendors, really good, live music and activities for the kids – all Michigan-based businesses and Michigan-made products. The fact that it’s held in downtown Northville is icing on the cake. It’s such a quaint place, even though it’s not a “small town.” It blends old-fashioned with the modern amenities very well. If you’re ever in southeast Michigan, I really recommend a visit.
Also located in downtown Northville are two of our favorite, FREE things to do on the weekends. On nice days, we like to head to Ford Field Park for the kid to plan, or to have picnics. Also to the neighboring Mill Race Village to walk around, relax and/or take pictures. When we finished at the Festival, we did both. It’s so beautiful and peaceful there, and since I love history, looking at all the historic buildings really makes me happy.
What do you all do, on the weekends, for fun? Let me know in the comments section below.
