Fear of failure (and fear of success). How many dreams and goals have passed you by because you were scared to fail? How many times have you looked back on your life, looked upon mistakes you’ve made, and kicked yourself over them? So many (too many) people allow the fear of making mistakes hold them back.
I know failing feels horrible at the time. Trust me, I do. However, failure does teach you an important lesson: what doesn’t work. And, when you know that, you’re a step closer to figuring out what does.
If you’re anything like me, you feel hurt and disappointed after failing. But, once that feeling is gone, you come out of the other side much, much stronger. With each try, you grow stronger and better your odds of succeeding.
Even if you try and fail, you’ll be forever changed by the process. You’ve forced yourself to a whole new level, moved away from your comfort zone, and are much more known for having tried. Besides, if you constantly avoid pursuing dreams and goals because you’re frightened of making mistakes you’ll never realize what you can accomplish. Trying and failing is so much better than never having tried at all.
I know you’ve heard the saying, “Everything happens for a reason.” Failure is no exception.
What’s something you’ve failed at on your first try, but soon found success? Let me know in the comments section below.
