I truly believe that it’s everyone’s wish to be happy. To do what makes them happy. To be with who makes them happy. Unfortunately, real life sometimes gets in the way of happiness. Life has a funny way of handing us situations that overwhelm us and keep us from feeling completely fulfilled but, guess what? You can learn to be happy. Keep reading to see my top five ways to BE HAPPY.
Smile often. You know that saying, “Fake it ‘til you make it?” Do that. Make yourself smile as often as you can. The simple act of smiling right when you wake up and continuing to do so throughout the day – no matter what – is a simple way to begin living a happier life.
Mistakes, not regrets. Make that one of your mantras. Regrets gnaw at you and make you miserable, possibly bringing down others with you. Mistakes allow you to learn, grow and eventually be a happier person. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes. It’s easy to let them get us down, however, if you learn to embrace your mistakes and move on from them with the promise to do better next time.
Stop trying to please others all the time. Living your life constantly trying to please everyone but yourself is not the way to go. Know that you cannot please all of the people all of the time. Don’t make that your goal. Instead, spend some time doing things that please YOU.
Remove negative people from your life. Negative people will suck the life out of you if you let them. In order to be a happier person, you have to surround yourself with people who will lift you up, not pull you down. It doesn’t matter who they are, let them go. This includes “friends” social media. If the Negative Nancy happens to be a family member or someone you can’t get away from totally, distance yourself as much and as often as possible. Put you, and your happiness, first and let go of anyone who is constantly dragging you down with their negativity.
Let go of fear. Be brave, my friends. Stop filling your mind with fear and learn to focus on your goals to and how you will achieve them. By keeping your mind on your end goal – not the possibility of failure – you will quickly start to live a happier life.
